I was raised in Utah and if you weren't married by 20 you were and old maid. I was always a rebel....when we were at church for the teenagers on Wednesday night the girls were in class learning to make beds, cook, sew & be a good wife, the boys were in the gym playing basketball. I used to get soooo mad and sneak off to play basketball with the boys.In my sophomore year I wanted to take Auto Mechanics. The teacher, principal and counselor had a fit. No girl had ever taken auto mechanics and they tried to steer me in the direction of Home Economics or sewing. I stood my ground and put up a fight. They gave in and I was in Auto Mechanics class and I ended up HATING it. Had to stick with it since I had raised such a stink about it.
Thank goodness we can raise our daughters to believe that they can do & be what ever they want! Support themselves, have fun and wait awhile before getting married and settling down.
