friends colonoscopy results
Hello everyone:
My friend got her colonoscopy results a few weeks ago.
Colonic mucosa with focal chronic and subacute inflammation present in the lamina propria, nonspecific.
R/O Miscroscopic Colitis.
Does this sound right. Doc says she has a functional bowel disorder IBS, and will be doing an Endoscopy to check for Celiac. Maybe I should go see her doc.
Any input

Well, you're probably not going to like it, but here's my opinion:Colonic mucosa with focal chronic and subacute inflammation present in the lamina propria, nonspecific.
That appears to define the markers of lymphocytic colitis. I gather the phrase "R/O Miscroscopic Colitis" is supposed to mean rule out MC, or am I wrong?. The pathologist doesn't seem to understand how to diagnose MC. For one thing, the use of the term "nonspecific" is superfluous, since most inflammation in the colon is non-specific.
Despite all the garbage that doctors and researchers publish about the non-existent disease "IBS", "IBS", (if it were to actually exist ), does not involve inflammation. Chronic inflammation, by definition, refers to an inflammatory bowel disease. Ergo, your friend has MC.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

rather than asking us our thoughts, my question to you is what do you hope to achieve?
the basis of conducting a test is to find an answer, if the answer you want to hear does not come forth what will you do?
doing the cleansing for a colonscopy and or upper endoscope is quite harsh on your digestion system, for someone with inflammation and damaged villi IMO it is like rubbing it with sandpaper
if you do proceed having further tests, regardless of the outcome or opinion of that medical professional, the facts as they are now, you have digestion issues and you have to make decisions about how you will manage that.
like all of us here with MC (and crohns) what works for one doesnt always work for another, we all have to make changes based on what works for us as individuals. there is no short cut or easy way.

Lisa I agree with Gabes on this one.
I know that MC is a difficult thing to accept, but I get the impression that you refuse to acknowledge that you have an medical condition (even though you have the medical evidence to suggest you do, at least i think you do). You keep asking people for advice and stuff, then ignore it.
I know that sounds blunt, but until you are ready to deal with this, there is very little you can do in terms of recovery.

I get so, so, so, so tired of hearing doctors label people with IBS. I would rather they tell their patients that they have no idea what is wrong. Putting an IBS label on GI problem, I think, gives false hope and can also mislead the patient (as in my case) to forgo additional testing and proper treatment for a more insidious problem that can become more chronic and debilitating.

Lisa I can only agree with what the others have said here. You can only start effectively dealing with this disease once you have accepted it.
There is a good book you may want to look into titled:
Lean on Me: 10 Powerful Steps to Moving Beyond Your Diagnosis and Taking Back Your Life.
The book provides an easy-to-follow 10-step roadmap to accepting illness, facing fears, and thriving in the face of chronic disease.

Lisa I hope you can not only an emotional acceptance of this condition but also the physical control of your life once you have a plan worked out.
Take care Lisa
