I know the general idea of a lot of sugar not being good for D. Is there any problem with me adding some sugar to my cream of rice in the morning? If so, is brown or white sugar better? I can eat it plain but it is soooooo boring, especially when I already eat rice at least one other time during the day.
Also, someone mentioned in another post something about "am I going to have to eat baby food?" That actually sounds pretty good to me!! Is there any reason why I can't do baby food bananas, etc. just for the shear portability and convenience.

Coach Polly
the baby food idea is something i introduced to the group,
when i had just been diagnosed, found this wonderful group of people and did lots of research on this site, i was talking to my support team (long term friend who is a naturopath and my acupuncturist) given the chronic symptoms i had pre Dx, both of them said it would be a good idea to take it slow in relation to introducing ingredients and foods.
so like when you are taking a baby from milk to solids, it is small amounts, of a smooth easy to digest texture, and also using the types of ingredients that you first use with babies as those ingredients are generally easier on the digestion system.
have a few small meals of one ingredient before you introduce the next ingredient. and i think mc world is like a baby, every new ingredient given to baby will have impact on its digestion and its first nappy after that ingredient, generally within a couple of days it settles down, i think we are similar, so because you may react the first time dont disregard that ingredient give a couple of tries.
any time i am having symptoms i revert back to gooey mashed up food. it is something that worked really well for me
unfortuntely for me, i have been allergic to banana's since birth so they are not an option for me, most other MC'ers tolerate them very well.
NB: i prepare and cook all of my meals, i make stock myself etc
be careful of preprepared commercial baby food as they may have additives such as vegetable gums (some are soy based) and other thickeners like guar gum etc another 'filler' that is used in foods is pea protein (it is in some sorbets) if you react to the legume family then this ingredient could be an issue.

Coach Polly,
Not everyone has a problem with sugar. Chances are, you should be able to tolerate reasonable amounts without any problems. In general, artificial sweeteners are a much bigger threat than sugar, for most of us.
