I've been recalled...
No, not my car - ME - I've been recalled after the mammogram. Mom says I shouldn't worry, benign cysts are common in our family.
I get home yesterday and there is a letter waiting for me and a message on my answering machine from some clinic. Went out to a family birthday celebration, came back and there is a message from my doctor now.
<sigh> Why can't I be like that guy from Mad magazine..."What, me worry?"
I'll call the offices in a bit and see whats up. They should be open in about 10 minutes.

Don't worry. It may not even be cysts--it may be nothing. I got recalled once and it turned out it was just that the picture wasn't so clear and they needed a better picture. I worried for nothing. On the other hand, if it is something, the sooner it's found and dealt with, the better. So just relax, go back, and get squished again!

Peggy,
Try not to worry (I know it's hard not to). Just a few months back I was recalled. They found a cyst. When I went back they did an ultrasound. They asked me if I wanted it aspirated it was up to me. And they told me there is a big chance of it filling up again. So I declined that fun procedure. It doesn't bother me. If it ever does give me any pain then I will go have it drained. A few years back I was recalled for the other breast and they used some super duper mammogram machine on me. Never found out what was there. Whatever it was a year later it was gone.
Don't you just hate when doctors go on vacation/holiday. You have to sit there and wait. I guess they need a break too

Peg, try not to worry too much. It will probably turn out to be nothing worse than a cyst, especially since they "run in the family".
I'll be keeping everything "crossed" for you too, and I pray it will be nothing serious.

Easy to say TRY not to worry-----I am sure it no doubt is cystic--
But I know what goes thru a persons mind when the report comes back with that message!!!!!!
Had this Xperience 2 years back BUT the damn radiologist mismarked the box and I was in a frenzy--cus my report said *OK* and then I get a call---
I had a big argument that day----and all apologies given but that didnt clean the *slate* for me!!!!
Now we are having troubles cus our MAMMO doc has absconded with megga $$$$$--unpaid bills and our records are LOCKED behind doors!!!
I feel awful for the cancer patients cus they need their records--
I am having an issue cus they want a *base-line* (@ the new Mammo place) and I cant give them one!!!!
And his attorney will not answer any calls---and now they trying to get the courts to order the records to be released--
So I called another office and they will do my MAMMO--
Good luck PIPPI----it will be OK--
luv Cuz'n Barb

I know it's hard
Hi Peg:
As we talked last night, I know what's going on and also know it's silly to tell you not to worry - until the further tests are done and everything taken care of, it's normal to worry - I've been there, done that. I'm due to get squished too - should take care of that soon.
Just try not to worry too much - like I said, it's very common and best to get these regular check-ups and take care of anything before it becomes a bigger problem.
Herer's a Mom (((((((((((((Peggy)))))))))))) hug.
Love ya - Momster

Do something nice for you today
Thanks everyone!!!
Mom don't hug TOO hard, I don't want to get practiced at this squishing thing.
Oooo what an evil grin Jill I will do my best NOT to even think about it this weekend. BTW I got my camera, mapquest directions, and some funny money today. Now let's just hope they let me through the border! See you soon.
Love to all,
Peg

Lots of hugs and prayers Pegster. I will tell you not to worry and know you wil so, I'll pray for you instead and let you know that most times these things are nothing or they are benign. Been there, done that (EVERY time). I have major fibroid cysts and get recalled for an ultrasound everytime. I've been blessed so far!
Anyhoo, what's this about "funny money"? I think it might be the other way around! LOL My money looks ok to me?!?! You me up!
Have a wonderul trip! What fun it sounds like you will have - I envy your trip! Take tons of pictures and share when you return!

Oh Peg, worrying is no fun at all
One of the reasons I haven't had the mammo yet is that I don't need the xtra hassle - the xtra worries for nothing. They are often wrong - very often; and they have to follow up if there is even the smallest risk since otherwise the patients will come back and sue them in case they missed something.
When I was pregnant the first time I was already over 35 and routinely they consider an over 35 first time mother a high risk pregnancy - they offer tests to figure out if the infant to be has Downs Syndrom (the risk goes up exponentially with age). I had chosen not to get the amnio synthesys (sp?) because I was afraid of the needle and there was an increased risk of miss carriage with the procedure (I had already miscarried twice prior to this pregnancy so I wasn't eager to put undo stress on the system). My husband and I was traveling and when I came back there was a message on our recorder from the OB/GYN office - that I had an elevated number on some test that indicated a higher than normal risk for Downs Syndrom - they thought I should come in for further testing. My heart sank and my throat tightened and I cried all night thinking that I was carrying a Downs baby - and I would have to determine whether or not to induce abortion; already in week 20 or 21 of the pregnancy I had felt the fetus move. Not a good situation to be in. I decided to have the amnio synthesis based on the elevated numbers in that aforementioned test.
Those days were extremely stressful -the Amnio was expensive and invasive, the anxiety was pronounced - the Amnio came back negative for Downs.....
Good luck with it, Peg - and try not to worry before you know more.
Love,
Karen
