A Delicious Simple Treat

Discussions can be posted here about mediator release testing (MRT), as offered by Oxford Biological Technologies, in conjunction with the LEAP program, which is claimed to determine a relative level of sensitivity to various foods and chemicals by measuring an increase in the ratio of liquids to solids in a blood sample that has been exposed to a specific allergen.

A Delicious Simple Treat

Post by Kari »

I find that as I'm gaining confidence in the kitchen, I'm also starting to experiment, using "common sense" and past memories, such as things my mother used to prepare.

I love pears, but am trying not to eat uncooked fruits, so here is what I did:

Pealed a few ripe pears and cut them into small pieces. Placed them in a pan and barely covered them with water. Added 1 tsp. cinnamon. Simmered for half an hour, while stirring occasionally.

After this, the small amount of water left was slightly gooey and tasty. I then chilled it in the refrig. I've been snacking on this treat for 3 days now, and the texture and flavor are wonderful, reminiscent of my mother's preserved pears that I grew up with.

It's amazing how something that simple, can bring so much pleasure :). This morning when I had some, I added a small amount of almond milk - heavenly!!!

Love,
Kari

Kari,

Wow, that sounds great! (And now I'm sorry I didn't try something with the fragrant goo that was left when I cooked carrots earlier this week... next time.)

Wonderful idea - and I'm glad your inner chef is emerging ;)

Sounds delish! Isn't it amazing how creative you can get in the kitchen when you have to?! Necessity is the mother of invention!
