Swollen foot and ankle cont.
Went to the doc today....
Ankle continues to swell and is now traveling up the leg to the knee. No pain or other symptoms. Was sent to the hospital for an immediate ultrasound to rule out a blood clot. Nadda - GOOD NEWS.
BP is HIGH - increased the dieretic in the BP meds - hoping that will help.
Leg is beginning to irritate me and is tingling from the swelling. I will report back to the doc if it continues after taking the BP meds with the increase in the dieretic.
Tired and worn out but that could also be from the elevated BP. We shall see......
I'm on vacation after Friday for a week. No plans except taking the grands to the zoo on Thursday of next week (leg permitting). Don't know that the heat and swollen leg are a good combination.

Yep, as much as possible - can't do that at a desk at work (I move from the desk to the puter desk) and walk around a lot. Not too cool setting with my foot up on top of my desk but, HEY - I just might have to do that for a while tomorrow!
Orrrrr, I could go to the Community Room where there is a big-screen TV and elevate it - watch a little TV and, well, you know.......
Boss is out of town and I'm in charge - who's gonna tell me I can't! LOL

Right now - Cause unknown - Could be that I am retaining water because my BP is so high. I am going to watch it over the weekend. I will call him back on Monday if it is still giving me problems.
I am a little concerned because it is not normal. But hey! Who says I'm NORMAL! Hahahhaha

Mars,
I have high bp too. When diagnosed mine was in the 190's over 110. They started me on 10 mg of lisinopril. A year or later it clocked in at 198 over 110 again. Dr. raised it to 40 mg. I was on that for about 3 years (having problems with it going too low but he wouldn't change it). Finally, I started going to a different doctor and took a record of my bp which I was taking at home. Got it lowered to 30 mg. It's still plenty low.
What has your experience with BP been?

At the doc yesterday it was 165/95. It is usually pretty controlled with the meds. Normal for me is about 125/86 or somewhere around there.
Not overdoing it at work although there is a lot going on and my boss is away on vacation. I am in charge and am on vacation next week so I need to have everything in order before I leave on Friday.
Don't feel too stressed so don't know what the deal is.
Came to work this a.m. and the foot is swelling already. Took my meds first thing when I got up. This is really starting to aggrivate me. I will patiently (yea, right - me who has no patience) wait until Monday to call the doctor and update him on the swelling. I need to give the meds some time to work (unless the swelling gets worse or other symptoms appear).

You are allergic to work, that's MY Dx.
At this point we can hope that the BP med and the diuretic do their job. That and a VACATION.
I commend you for your attitude during all this. I think I would be and !!! (I am glad those two emoticons are right next to each other.) Please take care and I hope that we get good news from you over the weekend. Maybe even tomorrow?
Lots of love,
Sally

So happy you ruled out a blood clot
Hi Mars:
I'm so happy you tested negative for a blood clot. I was concerned because I lost my brother to a bloot clot - he got it from air travel and wearing jeans that cut the circulation. When you mentioned the one foot more swollen than the other it send off alarm bells in my head.
I hope they find out what's causing it soon. That can be so annoying. You didn't do anything to hurt it? I have a swollen foot but it's from a fall on my scooter - the scooter turned over and trapped the foot. Didn't break it but damaged some stuff in there and it feels like I'm walking on a bump on the bottom of my foot and it swells a lot. Elevating does help. I hope you can do that lots, but I sure wish they could find out what's causing it. You'd think fluid retention would show equally in both feet, not lopsided like that.
Anyway, take care and feel better.
Love - Momster

Margieeee!
I am so sorry that you are not feeling well in the foot! I hope that it is nothing serious....I'm sure it isn't.
My left ankle is slightly more swollen than the right..always. It has always concerned me. It seems that I have read on the board that someone had an obstruction that caused the left ankle to swell...was it Luce? I think it was.
I hope that the new meds do the trick, and that you feel better soon. I'm glad you are not stressing over it, that doesn't help a thing. You will be good as new soon, and right back to your old goofy self....LOL.
Love ya..Biggie Biggie!

Hi Margie,
Just saw my name in print, so thought I'd respond. Actually, it was BOTH my feet and ankles that were swollen, but that was arthritic and very painful.
Don't hesitate to let the doc know if you don't like the way things are going with the foot or anything before your appointment on Monday. Nice if you could cal him on Friday morning, but if you can't or something worries you over the weekend, I'd go ahead and call the no. on his recorder for emergencies. It'd be nice if he's the one on call this weekend since he's actually seen the foot, but would still talk to the doc on call in that situation. Don't forget to mention the BP part of it if you're calling about the foot and get somebody different, ok.
Keep us posted on this situation, please. We want you having fun on your vacation!
Yours, Luce
