Just have a minute, daughter in hospital
Hi All,
Just wanted to let you know that I've been MIA because my youngest daughter, Shannon is in the hospital. We went to the RediCare Tuesday evening. The doctor there sent us to the ER.
She had severe pain in her abdomen, especially the right side. Everyone thought she was having an appendices. After 12 hours in ER, it turned out she has cysts on both of her ovaries. She was admitted and is on IV antibiotics. We are waiting for the lab results to see if it's from a STD or another infection.
I've gotten 2 hours sleep in the last two days...

Jean,
Sorry to read about the problem. That's a very painful condition.
Now that your daughter is receiving the care she needs, though, please get some rest, and take care of your own needs.
Thanks for updating us.
Hugs,
Wayne

Jean,
You must be running on overtime- glad to hear you have a DX and now she is resting more comfortably. Just put faith in the doctors and hospital staff because I'm sure she will be well taken care of.
Take care,
Love Joanna

OUCH! Cysts can be very painful. Especially if they started to twist. Good luck to your daughter. Same kind of thing happened to my gram back in the day...they went in to take her appendix and found a cystic ovary. Needless to say back then they took both the ovary and the appendix. They have much better ways to go after just the cyst now.

Hi Jean....I will say a prayer for the quick recovery of your daughter. I am sorry she is ill. Cysts are not fun. Tell her to get well soon...and you get some rest. If you are going to be at the hospital with her....take a pllow or ask them for one and a blanket and get some sleep if you can. Love Oma

Jean,
I'm so glad your daughter is getting treatment. I know you are relieved. It's so difficult to watch our loved ones be sick or in pain. Harder than going through it ourselves, I think.
Hope you are still sleeping or resting.

Jean, I am so sorry to hear about Shannon. I have never had a cyst, but I know from everybody here that they are very painful. I am sure that you were reaching the end of your rope not knowing what it was. Now that they do, I hope that you can get some rest.
You are in my thoughts, dear friend,
Lots of love,
Sally

So Sorry
Hi Jean:
My thoughts go out to you and Shannon. Poor girl, I know they're very painful. I've only had one in my life time and that was one too many.
Love - Momster

Do something nice for you today
Thanks All for your kind words. It helps to know others have had the same thing.
I'm on my way back to the hospital. There's talk of releasing my daughter today, I hope. Labs still aren't back. Shannon likes for me to be there all the time, she's always been my baby. She feels much better. They are pumping her full of antibiotics, two intravenously, one orally.
Found a great food menu for me in the cafeteria...bananas and hard boiled eggs! LOL Yummy.
More Later, Jean

We're home.
Shannon's PID was not caused by an STD, which is a relief to all of us, especially to a young man who has been very nervous. That means that there is much less likelyhood of it causing permant damage and fertility problems. And, I can still look forward to grandchildren someday. Apparantly, we won't ever know what bateria caused it, just that it responded to antibiotics.
I'm relieved that she's better. I think I'll try to take a nap while she's out (they gave her two vicoden before we left the hosptial). And yes, stress does cause D. LOL
