Retirement (sort of) at the end of this week

Post by TXBrenda »

Hello

My last day at my current job is Friday, after 25 years, 11 months, & 11 days! It is sort of retirement because I will need to find a job - won't need to match my current salary. I have put in for a job as a tutor in the public school system. I did this as a volunteer about 15 years ago and really enjoyed it. I will also submit my application to a couple of the temporary agencies. At least this part of Texas doesn't have the higher unemployment rates that other areas do!

Update on health issues - Was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in February. I'm doing ok with that . . . my A1C value needs to be lower but got it down to 6.2 after improving my diet. My weight loss efforts have stalled mainly because I eat too much. Also haven't been following the GF diet/lifestyle that I should be following - not enough to cause D but enough to make me feel achy & tired! I'm looking forward to less stress and concentrating more on my health and improving my situation with the above health issues.

Welcome to the newbies. This board is a blessing - thanks to all that take the time to answer questions and/or show support. Knowing you are not alone helps!

Take care
Brenda

Brenda,

I wish you so much happiness and wellness in your upcoming retirement. Sorry about the diabetes dx, but it sounds like you have a handle on that.

I can say that going GF has helped me so much, hard that it is, but well worth it. It is truly a godsend for all of us.

My best,

garina

Wow - that's a long time to be working at the same place. I hope you can find other satisfying employment.
DH will be retiring next year after working at the same company for 43 years. I think it's just beginning to hit him that he will be leaving his second home.

Good luck and I hope you can enjoy a slower pace.

Gloria

Good luck on retirement Brenda. Something I still have a couple of years ahead to achieve. My husband is retired and would so love to be with him during the days. I want to do part-time too after retirement but will deal with that when the time comes. Sorry to hear about the diabetes but sounds like you have it under control.

Love, Maggie
