entocort and eating what you want

Post by scrowley »

I have another question, just started this MC thing so i am trying to learn alot.
i am on entocort for 8 weeks, is it wise to eat anything i want now while my stomach is doing better
or should i still be eating a restricted diet that doesnt irritate my colon in order for it to heal faster??
will i slow down the healing process of the drug if i eat anything??
my doctor said eat anything, but i havent been doing it.........
thanks alot

Food sensitivities are the cause of the inflammation, so if you continue to eat those foods, they will continue to generate new inflammation, and your intestines will never have an opportunity to heal. It typically takes over a year for the got to heal from the damage that is associated with MC.

The drugs do not heal the gut. In fact, the corticosteroids actually slow down the healing process. All that the drugs do is to mask the inflammation, so that the symptoms are suppressed. Healing is a separate and distinct process, but healing cannot proceed unless new inflammation is not being generated. As proof of this, virtually every MC patient who takes Entocort for 8 weeks, relapses a week or so after the drug is discontinued, because as soon as the drug is no longer there to suppress the symptoms, the food sensitivities in the diet generate new inflammation.

Most GI specialists do not realize that food sensitivities trigger the symptoms of MC, because that's not part of their training. It does no good to argue with them, because they are the "experts", and we're only patients, so they always know better - even when they're dead wrong.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
