Silly Question

Post by Melanie »

Okay, I'm going to sound like an idiot! But how do you get your photo uploaded? I'd like to replace that flag with a photo, but I can't figure out how to do it....

Hi Melanie

There's a place in your profile, (scroll down to near the bottom, to the Avatar Control Panel), and if you click on the "Browse" button, you can browse to an image file on your computer, and upload it. Please note that you will have to downsize the image file first, so that it does not exceed 6KB. Usually, you can do that, and still have an avatar up to 2 inches maximum physical dimension, with adequate detail. After you locate the image file you want on your hard drive, click "Open", to select it. Don't forget to click on the "Submit" button, at the bottom of the page, to save the change.

If you don't have a way to edit the image file, or you're not familiar with doing that, or if you for any reason you have trouble getting the system to accept it, just email an image file to me, and I'll be happy to resize it and upload it. If you send it to me, please send the original file, so that I can resize it with a minimum loss of detail. IOW, it's easy to reduce the size of an image file, but if you send a file that's already too small, there's no way to restore detail that's already lost.

Sorry for the late response - I had an appointment to do a blood draw this morning, and that took a while.

Thanks Tex! I wasn't in any hurry so no worries there. I did send you an email with a picture. I just sent an attachment right from my camera card. Let me know if you need something else. I appreciate your help :)

Hi Melanie,

Ditto to needing help with the photo upload  . It's so nice to see pictures of people who post - it makes their stories "stick" in the mind a lot more easily and makes the interactions more personal.

Love,
Kari
