Back from our cruise

Post by nancyl »

We got back from our cruise and I only had a few bumps. They went out of their way on the ship to make incredible meals for me. My friends kept calling me "the queen" because of the extra attention I received. They even made surprise desserts for me at night. I did get seasick one day because we had 17-20 ft waves. First time I ever got sick, but I wsn't the only one. Next time I was uncomfortable was due to stress. We were getting off the ship for early tours once we arrived in Europe. I was so afraid that I wouldn't have a chance to eat and use the bathroom before we got off. Also, we would be off the ship for many hours and I was always afraid I wouldn't have anything to eat. So, over thinking all that and lack of sleep because of the over thinking made for a couple of uncomfortable days, but not unbearable. I don't think any of the food bothered me so I am going to have to try not to get so stressed. All in all it was a wonderful trip, we saw so much it's all kind of a blur right now until I get my photos on the computer.

I'll post some photos soon.

Thank you for the report, Nancy. It's nice to read that the ship was very accomodating to your dietary needs. I'm assuming that the ship didn't provide you with any meals to take with you when you were off the ship.

What you experienced is what I've suspected - when we're in our comfort zone, things are fine, but once we have to leave that zone, we start to panic. Suddenly the carefree vacation isn't so carefree.

You survived and had a good time as well. That's a major accomplishment! I'll be looking for the pictures as well.

Thanks Deanna and Brandy.

Gloria, you are so right about our comfort zone. You are not allowed to bring food into other countries so that is why you can't take it off the ship. I ate well on the ship, but not as much as I do at home. I did lose a little weight and cannot affort to lose an ounce. I am hoping now that I'm home I can put a few pounds back on. I've been cooking all day. Also made a coffee cake and baked apples to eat with my ice cream and plenty of potato chips.

I am not planning another long distance vacation for a long time. It is too much trouble and too worrisome. I am just happy I survived this one.

Nancy!

so pleased that you 'survived' the first big trip is the hardest as there are so many unknowns, and it is quite unsettling.

In the world of MC you have made it to everest base camp!!! (harma moving to another country with different language is the top of everest..)

Now, you need a holiday to recover from the holiday.... relax, enjoy the yummy coffee cake and baked apples and bask in the accomplishment that you did it!

Thanks Gabes,
I am enjoying and feel soooo relaxed here at home. I must not let MC control my life though. I did what you suggested and brought a lot of snacks. I held on to a lot of them for the plane ride home and some for my tours. When I was in Rome I had bread made by Schar which was very good and also some Yogo Plum Cakes by the same company, which were delicious. Hannaford (our local grocery store) is going to try to get them.

My grand daughter and husband were in Sydney and Melbourne at the same time and loved it. They also brought back great news for us - we're going to be great grandparents in November.

Nancy - were you 12 when you had your babies? You do NOT look old enough to be a great grandmother. Congratulations!

Thanks Lesley,
Actually, I was very young, a teenage Mom. I was fortunate that it has lasted for 52 years. My granddaughter is 29.
