Hi
Don't mean to bother everyone again with my whining I started .30 mg of prednisone on Tuesday wednesday began to have increased diarrhea and bad cramping,(lessening after a BM or passing gas) which lasted most of the day, especially on left lower stomach. This AM is only slightly better Now I re read my instructions from Gastro and did not realize it said stay on liada (4 .1.2g once a day) so have not taken it since Monday do you think Im in some kind of withdrawal from that. I took the dose about an hour ago. Am I expecting to much from the prednisone to be helping the D in 3 days. He is not in til Tuesday(the day of my colonoscopy) and Im the kind that hesitates to call the service unless it is a real emergency so Im turning to my experts for some info. I really am feeling better after taking my Lialda. Two other things to factor in my pharmacist , who is a friend, told me to start my first prednisone dose tuesday night and the second wednesday morning 12 hours later than take it every morning 24hr apart (he said this would jump start things and was ok) Second fact I was also give omeprazole 20mg to take once a day with the predisone I have discontinued it after reading the side effects so maybe that is what was effecting me. Since taking the Lialda the pain is stopped.
Sorry I ramble when upset
Thanks for reading and any info.
K

Hello Kitty, I would say that stopping the Liada may be the issue. The prednisone at 30mg is a pretty mild dose, but a good place to start. I would go back on the Liada and five it a day or so, if there is no improvement give your GI doc a call (probably before the weekend) and he may want to up your prednisone. The goal should be to calm the symptoms down with the least amount of meds necessary. Don't be shy about calling him though.
Good luck, I hope you feel better.
