MY MRT results are back. :)
Hi All, I received my MRT testing today and it's really fairly positive news. There were a few surprises but overall I'm pleased. I am hoping to challenge some foods next. Tex you can add these to the data base. I had a hard time getting them to copy so I snipped them. I hope they are readable. If not just delete it and I'll try something else. I could not get them to copy and paste.
Thanks, Carol
If you click on the images they do get bigger but I think they are still hard to read.
Thanks, Carol

Thanks everyone for the support. Maybe when I have some time I can figure out how to post them better. It's just a pdf file but it wouldn't copy and pasted. Puzzling.
Yes Joe I did have the Enterolab tests and I react to the 'big 4' (gluten, dairy, soy, and eggs), plus pork and corn were highly problematic. Even when I cross those off my MRT list, I still have several foods to try that are low greens.
I'm pleased over all with these results. Cola was the only actual red and I wasn't drinking it anyway.
take care all,
Carol

Hi Mim,
I basically took an alternate route with the MRT testing. Typically it's done in conjunction with a dietician who will order the test then set up a rotation diet for you based on the results. This is designed for people with food sensitivities but not necessarily for people with LC or MC. Once I'd already eliminated gluten, soy, dairy, and eggs, that changed the face of what the diet would look like for me.
The closest dietician for me was 3 hours away. I talked to her and she had no experience with LC. I thought about it for a couple of days and decided that I did not have the mental energy to try to teach her about LC, plus once MRT eliminated a few more foods, I probably didn't need a professional to design the rotation diet-- I didn't think there would be many foods left and I felt I understood the rotation concept enough to do it myself.
I ordered my test kit through TrueHealth Labs online. The kit was easy to understand. Signet Diagnostics does all of the MRT testing so it really didn't matter where I ordered it from. I called Signet and they said I could order from them but they said they would be more expensive than ordering it through a dietician. TrueHealth charged $399 for 120 foods and 25 chemicals/additives, and my local Affordalab charged me $15 to draw the blood. They apparently help people with kits often.
I have already found MRT to be very helpful. I have challenged and been able to add sunflower seeds and sunbutter, apricots, dates, strawberries, romaine lettuce, coconut, and onion. I swear my previously very narrow diet was killing my appetite. I am so grateful for the variety. I can challenge foods and add them with confidence. There were foods and additives that I thought would probably be okay that were shown to be problematic too, so I've dropped those. My gut is much quieter and because I have a better variety of foods, I just feel better. Stronger, like I have some real fuel to run on.
My main motivation in getting MRT testing was that I'd heard several others on this site (who are in remission) say that they felt they did not turn the corner toward remission until they had the MRT tests done. It's an extremely thorough guide. Both my PCP and my GI were impressed with the wealth of information I received.
So my experiences have all been good with it. I hope I answered your questions, but let me know if I've overlooked a question.
take care,
Carol

Carol,
Glad to hear MRT worked for you and that you are adding more foods. We often look to food sensitivity testing to show us what we can't eat, but know what we CAN eat is just as important.
Hope your recovery continues in a smooth path.

Mary Beth, I want to say that I appreciate your interest. Even though I am not currently working through a dietician I do value the expertise a dietician can provide, especially as we navigate the maze of foods and try to get back to wellness. Among other things I decided the 3 hour drive was going to be prohibitive after all, so that's why I am taking a stab at it on my own.
As you said it often shows us what to eliminate but in my case I felt it showed me what to eat. I would have avoided strawberries, for example, yet they were a very low green and I've done well with them. And the Paleo Morning Glory muffins--- wow. It has done my heart good to be able to expand my diet. Eating was becoming a struggle before this. Today will be the first day in a full year that I have not eaten chicken. I also started working out today. But better nutrition has paved the way for these things to happen.
