Gurgling noises as soon as you wake up
Hi all! Lately, I've been noticing as soon as I wake up, my stomach? intestines? start gurgling. Quite the symphony! I feel just a little nauseous, but not much. I am curious as to whether this is due to: my stomach telling me I'm hungry or that I ate something I shouldn't have? It only happens in the morning. If it is hunger, I can fix that, but if it is eating something I shouldn't have, I need to address that asap. Does anyone have gurgling in the morning as soon as you wake up, and what do you attribute that to?
Thanks!
Mandy

Hi Mandy,
For 13 months I had gurgles pretty much for all of my waking hours. Early on the boyfriend and I would be sitting on the couch and it sounded like World War II going on in my stomach. I, like Kitty, just assumed it was the nature of the disease. Perhaps the last couple of weeks I've only had gurgles in evening hours and light ones at that so I'm taking that as a good healing sign. Mandy, when I wake up like that it's going to be a very rough morning for me. Nausea always comes with it and I may as well take 2 Imodium and a couple of anti-emetics and stay in bed. I always thought it was a sign I was reacting to something, but often I've kept my diet the same. It seems to let up as the day goes on.
For me the nausea is intense and presents a real problem for me. It happens whether I am on Entocort or not.
Sorry I don't have an answer, but I know the experience. Because this happens to me every 8-10 days accompanied by 'aggressive bowel' contractions and several BM's in a short amount of time, I'm going to be talking to my GI about my concerns of having motility issues. I'll see her in 2 weeks and she and I have worked well together. I'll share what I find out if anything.

Mandy,
I call it the morning gurgles and has always been a problem for me and sometimes with nausea. Eating is not my strong point so I chalk it up to hunger and just the old D getting ready to let loose.
Love, Maggie

Sure. Outside of a couple of accidental "glutening" events, I haven't heard any significant gurgling in 5 or 6 years.

Hi Melanie,
For me I think the gurgling is just MC. i.e. For 13 months I had gurgling from eating/drinking pretty much everything all day long. In just the last several days the gurgling has gone down to very minor gurgling in just the evening. I think as I get closer to remission the gurgling will go away. Brandy

My gurgling is the worst in the morning as well but can happen at any time. It is always followed by D, pain and sometimes nausea. Now that I am GF, DF, and SF and on Budesonide, the gurgling is much better. Yesterday, I ate two eggs and had some roasted veggies. I had gurgling last night and today with some gas, but no D. I imagine that means I'm reacting to one or more of the foods I ate yesterday. My Enterolab results are due back in a week. I'll be glad to know.

Gurgling means I have eaten something I shouldn't, so I think about what I ate last and check it out. The latest no-no is eggs, though I can still eat them (I think) in baked goods. When I was first dealing with this, it sounded like WWIII in my stomach and was easily heard by people sitting around me.
