ixprim, beef or stress?
fiest the simple question, my doc gave me ixprim for releif of gut pain in a flare, but I havent taken any till I checked in with the potty people, is it ok? my other question is does anyone have trouble digesting beef, I seem ok with mince but on wed. I made beef estofada, I used a lot of fillet steak, the next day I was having gassy guts but no D. in the evening I had a phone call from my daughter, my grandsons beloved parrot had escaped and as I was the one collecting him from school could I explain this to him(we are VERY close) well none of us were prepared for his distress, he was inconsoleable and we all spent the next 2 hours walking the hedgerows calling for him to no avail, then the next day my daughter told me he was up on and off all night calling for him from his bedroom window, guess what I then had a flare with all the ususal niceties!!!!!!!!! so was it beef being too rich or emotion or both? Needless to say dear Noddy the parrot has not been found. BENI
Hi Beni,
I'm sorry to hear about all the problems that developed when Noddy escaped. I can't help you with finding him, but I can tell you that stress of that type can certainly trigger an MC flare.
Beef seems to be an unusual allergen for some of us. Back when I was recovering, beef would cause me to have gas and bloating, which would be followed by a low level headache, and upper back and neck stiffness, aches and pains. Like you, it didn't cause me to have D -- it only caused the symptoms that I listed. Several other members here have also described similar symptoms from beef.
Ixprim should be generally safe to use. Here's some information on it:

Avoid drinking any alcohol when taking any product that contains paracetamol, since the combination can cause kidney damage.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
