Hot Weather - Try Freezing Bananas

Post by carol1946 »

Bananas are one of my favorite "go to" foods especially in the hot summer.....If you can tolerate them, try slicing up a few and freeze them in plastic bags over night. I have to confess that, for me, the only problem I have is eating too many. LOL! Carol

How about melted dark chocolate over them and rolling them in nuts or crushed candy? They sell those on Balboa Island near me for all the tourists.

Love the chocolate but can't tolerate nuts.....definitely takes me back to the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz when our tummies could handle it all. I need to go shopping!!! Carol

Another way I use frozen banana chunks, especially in the summer, is  as the "ice cube" element in fruit smoothies.

When I was young I lived in Guatemala (from ages 6-16), and "choco-bananos" were a favorite treat. There, they'd cut them in half and insert a stick before they froze them, then dip them in melted chocolate and re-freeze. Mmm! Haven't had one of those in at least 30 years. I need to try that! :)
