Another question for Mary Beth

Discussions can be posted here about mediator release testing (MRT), as offered by Oxford Biological Technologies, in conjunction with the LEAP program, which is claimed to determine a relative level of sensitivity to various foods and chemicals by measuring an increase in the ratio of liquids to solids in a blood sample that has been exposed to a specific allergen.

Another question for Mary Beth

Post by Polly »

Hi Mary Beth,

I know you said the new MRT (180 tests) won't be available for about 6 more mos. Do you know what add'l. things will be tested? Hopefully, it will be more real foods and less chemicals. For paleo folks, we don't really eat chemicals/preservatives, etc. to any degree, so I would be more interested in real foods.

Thanks.

Hugs,

Polly

Polly,

I don't know what will be on there. The company did a survey of dietitians to see what they would like to add. I know many of us would like to see more vegetables, herbs, types of fish, and types of beans.

If someone needs to test I encourage them to do it now, not wait for the expanded test. Six months is an estimate but by no means set in stone.
