"I was also made aware of a situation, which was promptly addressed at our recent Board Meeting. It involved a member gaining admittance to the party without paying the $15.00 fee due to restricted dietary considerations. Although the Board does acknowledge same and deem such conditions unfortunate, the Board was unanimous in reconfirming its policy that anyone-member or guest-will be required to pay the total applicable, establlished fee for the event regardless of individual circumstances. Please do not ask that exceptions be made; these are party fees, not just food fees."

I think an answer would depend upon a lot of unknowns here.

Was this a private party to celebrate a special occasion for an individual member of the Club? Or for a person who was not a member of the Club?

If so, was there to be one big gift to be purchased by the group --- part of the cost of which would be contributed to by all of the party’s attendees?

OR - Was this a party held by a larger and somewhat impersonal general interest group?

Were there beverages being served which were separate from the food menu?

Was there to be a program with hired speakers?

Was this meant for some kind of benefit for someone, or some other cause?

Was this party going to be held at some kind of location other than the Club's normal home base?

Sorry, it is for a regular monthly club social party and it is always BYOB.

The main thing is that it was published w/o talking to me privately. There also were things unknown to him.

I very luckily happened to find an email from 2009 that proved I was granted permission by someone else (a Vice) not to pay. A former head of the group had said that he was going to bring it up to the board and I never heard another word.....In the email, I had said that depending on what the board decided, put us down for one or two. The Vice said sign up for one, she had no problem with it because the monies went for food and supplies.
