visit to a hospital for work

This is a life-altering, frustrating, disgusting, and humbling disease, but if nothing else, it teaches humility.

visit to a hospital for work

Post by Julie »

Hi,

this is so embarrasing but I am happy to tell you the story that often happens to me.

My job is to guide teenagers. I have to do long walks, bike rides, creative assignments, ... with kids from the ages of 12 to 18. So there aren't many bathrooms around me since I'm outside most of the time.

One day, while driving, I felt a huge cramp in my abdomen. I had to race to the nearest hospital to go to the bathroom. Of course, I had diarrhea again. I was in there for 25 minutes. When I got out, there were a lot of people waiting to go to the bathroom. You can probably imagine that the smell wasn't that great.

These situations happen to me a lot. But hey, let's live with it. There are worse things, right?

Julie

Dear Julie,

When I was in my early 'uncontrollable' phase my worst fear was being stuck in a traffic jam in the car. I even thought I would need to rent or buy some sort of van with a loo in it or some sort of fold up camping loo.......

You spend much more time "far from the throne" than I so

I am sure that as you get a treatment regime worked out, you will have less worry about such accidents.

Best, ant

Hi,

I guess that I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was freaking out.

But hey, it could be worse.

Deb,

We all have grave concerns about the nursing home thing, because currently, they don't seem to savy serious food sensitivities (unless they cause anaphylaxis, and I'm not even sure if they pay attention in those cases). Maybe they enjoy changing bedding and cleaning up patrons several times each day. Our only hope is to stay out of them long enough, and maybe they will become enlightened and change their policies before we end up there. :sigh:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I have already told the lady that took care of my mom that when I'm ready for her she would be well served to cater to my food sensitivities. She laughingly agreed. But now I'm worried that she isn't that much younger than me! Oh we'll.

I asked a man if a restaurant served gluten-free food and he said, "oh, that's junk food." I became angry but then again, that leaves more for me to buy. One day he will discover he can't eat this or that. Everyone I know has some food allergy.

My only really bad accident was a trail in Austin, Texas. I love the trail up the mountain - but I got diarrhea. I slid my butt on the ground and continued walking. I miss that trail. Going back to Austin this Christmas time and will walk the trail again and go to San Marcus which has the largest outlet I've ever seen. I have worse medical problems than Microscopic Colitis and I just put up with it. It is what it is as they say. I hate ending a sentence with a preposition. Dorothy Rockwell
