Sick all the time?
I was just wondering if anyone else is constantly sick with colds or infections. I have stomach problems every day, but that has been happening for so long I can manage to get through my day anyway. Right now I have my first cold of the fall semester, and they will most likely keep on coming. I have tried allergy testing and immune testing but nothing was found and I have no idea where to go next! Also, I have been breaking out in a rash since Sunday and my doctor has no idea what it is. Does anyone have experience with this or some suggestions for me? Thanks!
Many people are popping up with colds right now. In order to get a quick handle on it, up your daily intake (if you can) of Vit D (10,000), take C (at least 4,000) zinc, Sambucol (elderberry extract) and Colloidal Silver. The last two items are not cheap, but are amazing for boosting your immunity (Sambucol) and infection (C. Silver).

Amber,
If you have viruses frequently, your vitamin D level is probably quite low. IBDs are known to deplete the body's supply of vitamin D. As Mandy mentioned, getting our vitamin D level up to a good level is the single best thing that we can do to improve our resistance against colds and other viruses. It will also help to prevent the development of an additional IBD or other autoimmune diseases.
Most of us seem to have exceptionally strong resistance against viruses, but most of us who are able to say that are taking a significant amount of vitamin D daily.
There are many threads about problems with rashes. Here are a few of the most recent, with the newest thread listed last:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
HI,
I broke out in a rash because I had to wean of Entocort. Then I got flares all the time and I had to restart taking Entocort. The name of the rash was Urticaria. I don't know what the English name is. The reason I had this rash was because it was in my body for a long time, the cortisone suppresses the rash. And so when I weaned of the cortisone (Entocort), I broke out in an itching rash all over my face and neck. I had to take one pill a day for three days and then it was over. I don't remember the name of that medicine. Maybe you should see a doctor.
About the colds, my GI explained to me that our immune system is for a great deal in our intestines. Of course, if you have problems with your abdomen, like LC in my case, your chances to get sick are greater in comparison to a healthy person. I've had that problem too last year. I hope that it won't be like that this year.
I hope you feel better soon. I can only advice you to rest, sleep and drink a lot of water.
Good luck!!!!!
Julie

Thanks guys! For some reason I'm not getting email alerts anymore so I didn't realize there were replies. Last time I went to the doctor my Vitamin D was low and so was my B12. I have been taking supplements and B12 shots, but it sounds like I might need to take more. I need to go back into the doctor and have my tests done again sometime soon. My rash is finally gone, but I am still dealing with a pretty bad cold. I think part of this is also that I'm in school and people come to class sick all the time, and my immune system isn't as strong as it should be so I pick up pretty much everything. I usually only get 1-2 colds during the summer, but the school year is an entirely different story. School has only been in session a month and I've already had a UTI, the stomach flu, this rash, and a cold.
Hi Amber,
Sorry to hear about your problems in the past month. Yep, classrooms are definitely "hotbeds" of germs. The plus side is that you will be building up good immunity for the future.
For the ongoing stomach issues, have you tried Zantac? It's an H2 blocker that I have found to be helpful. You can take the 12 hour pill ideally 1/2 hour to one hour before breakfast.
Hang in there. Any luck figuring out possible food sensitivities? A thought - I think enterolab holds the stool sample for a while, and it is possible to order additional tests (at least this used to be true - haven't checked lately). Perhaps you could have them run the tests for the other sensitivities.
Love,
Polly
