My MRT results....

Discussions can be posted here about mediator release testing (MRT), as offered by Oxford Biological Technologies, in conjunction with the LEAP program, which is claimed to determine a relative level of sensitivity to various foods and chemicals by measuring an increase in the ratio of liquids to solids in a blood sample that has been exposed to a specific allergen.

My MRT results....

Post by CathyMe. »

Hi all,
Wanted to share my experience with MRT testing and the results. My PCP signed off on the order, I went to NORDX and had them draw the blood and brought the test right to FEDEX. Very easy process. It took 1 week for the dietician to get the results which are:

RED
FD&C blue #2 (not sure what this is....sounds like a chemical)
Lecithin
Garlic (never eat)
Salmon (rarely if ever eat)

Yellow
Caffeine (going to be a huge issue for me as I like my morning tea but oh well)
Potassium nitrate
Aspartame(don't eat)
Benzoic Acid
MSG
FD&C Red #3
Capsaicin
Saccharine(don't eat)
American Cheese(have already eliminated all dairy)
Cottage cheese(already figured this out as well)
Whey(Have eliminated this as well)
Cane sugar
Chicken (Big part of my diet)
Beef
Coffee
Olive
Pear
Sweet Potato (had already eliminated from my diet)
Eggplant
Wheat(already eliminated)
Barley (already eliminated)
Corn(already eliminated)

My thoughts, alot of strange chemicals on this list?? I had already taken out all artificial sweetners. I do eat ALOT of chicken but oh well, I'm going to give it a go as I'm still in a flare. I did have an upper endoscopy done this week and she found a nodule in my stomach, which I'm awaiting results from. I will be meeting with the dietician next week. I've had 2 accupuncture treatments and can say I felt a little better after the second one, so will continue that.

Hi Cathy,

Those FD&C numbers are food dyes. I believe your results are the first I've seen that showed a sensitivity to cane sugar (ordinary table sugar).

Thanks for posting your results.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Cathy,

Looks like you have lots of sensitivities. Keep in mind that diarrhea is not the only symptom that can occur - you might find that some toher annoying problems are helped by the diet. Good luck getting started with your diet. Keep us posted on your progress.

Not a problem Tex. Mary Beth-I was pleased that none of the veggies that I eat everyday are on the list! I can still eat turkey, tuna and other shellfish as well. I am committed to this process as I will do whatever it takes to feel better! The results just confirmed that I'm headed in the right direction. Thanks again for your referral.
