Wow..scary.It's so hard to convince people how toxic gluten can be. I'm slowly making inroads with my family but I really don't think some will believe/change until they get symptoms that are too obvious to ignore. It makes me sad because I don't want them to go through what I have. Deb

Hi, Great information. When talking at support group meetings about diet and the dangers of gluten most people will not acknowledge the problem of gluten until the medical community has no answers for their illness. They may go through years of different drugs and their side effects and have no relief from their symptoms. Then they call and ask about following a gluten free diet. Jon

Interesting. That article sent me to this research abstract about MC sharing celiac genes.
It was published in 2000, yet most doctors still don't see the connection?!?

Joan - Thank you for posting this. Very interesting. It surprised me to see how many health issues can be related to gluten.

I agree with you, Deb - It is sad to see those around us who we know should be on a GF diet (if nothing else), and they ignore it. If we could all get the attention of just one..... and they in turn do the same..... what great changes we would see IMO.

When not reading the book Tex wrote, I leave it on the table in the kitchen area for my husband to develop a curiosity - nothing so far.

Very interesting. The articles related to collagenous colitis made me hopeful that some gut repair actually can take place with a gluten/dairy/soy free diet. Thanks for sharing this site.

I have been dairy free for two months, started gluten free and got onto Entocort three days ago. Oh my gosh, can't believe the difference in my body. No more grumbling coming from my stomach, no diarrhea, and no pain. Now, I just need to figure out what I can attribute all this change to. It is so hard for me to go gluten free, I really must read all of these wonderful posts on how other people are substituting the glutens. I feel like I am going to starve to death sometimes. It is really too bad my doctor didn't make all of the suggestions about dairy and gluten. In fact, I was told even though I test positive for the collagenous colits I tested negative for celiac disease. He told me I didn't need to restrict gluten. Ugh, I've been dealing with this for 5 years because I was told there was no treatment available. Finally, I think in desperation, he started me on Entocort and told me I would only be using it for three weeks. After reading what other peoples experience have been with Entocort, I am going to beg for a longer course of treatment. I just can't thank everyone enough for all of the words of wisdom I have received on this site!
