passed my test!

Post by Leah »

I just thought I'd share my good news. I passed my nutritionist certification! Yay! Now I have to think of a way to market myself not only as a weight loss specialist ( to go along with my personal training), but also for helping people with IBS and IBDs.

Congrats Leah! How awesome for you. I went with a nutritionist that has a background in IBD so you should have no problem marketing yourself this way. How long of a process was it?

Leah,
That is wonderful news. Being both a trainer and nutritionist is great and I'm sure you'll be busier than ever.

Congratulations Leah!

Your skills should be in increasing demand as the general population begins to realize that there's much more involved with healthy eating than just eating what the USDA and their doctor recommends. Attitudes about diet are due to change drastically over the next decade, IMO.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Congratulations!

I go to the gym all the time and I am sure the instructors do not know about all the food sensitivities!

Good Luck!

Congratulations Leah. Your experience with MC should be really helpful to a lot of people with food sensitivities.

I am wondering if you found that any of what you had to learn about nutrition was at odds with your own experiences.

Yes Jean! It was very hard for me to answer some of the questions the way they wanted me to because it's not what I believe, but I had to to pass the test. Not only was it contradictory to what i believe to be true about IBDs, but also the nutrition basics were not what I "preach" either as a trainer. WAY TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON GRAINS!

That's what I figured. Whole grains and high fiber, seemingly common "wisdom", would do me in. I understand about doing what it takes to pass the test. Glad you got through it and now have your credentials.
