Anyone here with Eosynophilic Colitis?

Post by Zizzle »

I know a few kids with Eosinophilic Esophagitis, but I never realized there was a colitis version until now. Is this another name for FPIES in infancy? I would guess this might be a suspected diagnosis in my daughter who has a known IGE food allergy but only lower GI symptoms. Hmmm, sounds like a form of MC to me. And obviously linked to ME too.

FPIES (food protein enterocolitis)

Post by JLH »

I just recenlty posted a link about FPIES that I found (I don't remember how). I probably was looking for a type of doctor who would understand our food intolerances.

I just searched PP to see if FPIES was ever mentioned and there were a few instances.

Why does it seem to only be a childhood disease?

I suspect FPIES is more severe in childhood and therefore more noticeable. I imagine many adults with food allergies have eosinophils involved.
