article about Nitrite production and bacteria production in

Post by Leah »

Hi All. I just read a short article in the SF Chronicle. It said that "bad bacteria" thrive in people who have IBDs and that the reason is because a byproduct of the inflammation is NITRATE. There is a class of bad bacteria called Enterobacteriaceae that uses nitrates to multiply and outnumber the good. Now scientists need to find a way to block the pathway that leads to the formation of nitrate.

I found it interesting and was just thinking that maybe this is what is happening to those of us who are having a hard time healing.

i posted a link to an article on the same topic a couple of days ago (great minds think alike)

i also did some further digging around the net and found this which i added to the thread as I thought would be of interest to zizzle

Attn Zizzle

after reading the article above - i did a bit more digging about nitrate/e coli etc

and mmmmmm this could explain your high reactivity to nickel??

http://www.jbc.org/content/275/26/19735.long

long story short- if you dont heal the inflammation then the increased amount of nitrates can cause other types of reactions,
it may also explain that while people are inflammed why pro-biotics may not work - once the gut has healed, then people can tolerate pro-biotics
