Current Weather Conditions in Central Texas

Post by tex »

With what's left of Rita, passing a little less than 200 miles, (about 320 kilometers), east of us, we currently have scattered high clouds, with a 15-20 mph breeze out of the northwest. All in all, a pretty nice day. Since Rita was already downgraded to a category 3 storm at landfall, the effects at this distance are pretty minimal--a far cry from what we would have experienced if she had been a catagory 5 storm at landfall.

There was some damage along the coast, of course, but far less than what could have occurred. I suspect we all dodged a bullet, in reference to all the oil refineries in that area of Texas. If they had been ravaged by a catagory 5 storm, fuel would have been pretty precious this fall and winter, and for some time to come, (as if it isn't high enough already).

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend as much as I am.

Sigh of relief

Hiya Galahad---
Good news is GREAT news, specially over the concern of what was predicted and kinda *eased on down the road*

Watching the Xodus is always an eerie sight but nice to know that peoples are *heeding* warnings~~~~~

And the Oil Refineries staying put is a blessing---

Well to us, every day seems like a weekend :cat2:

Xcept for the fact of seeing and HEARING all the kids that have INVADED our neighborhood
Most of our neighbors have up and moved to smaller places/the Carolinas/Florida~~~

And their homes have been bought by the *younger* generation who have younger kids---
Lou looked out the window the other day--smiles and thought *how nice to hear kids again* *Right Barbara*! he commented--I
hahahaha---it is really nice specially the family cross from us---their kids are so well mannered and polite---

Weather here is gorgeous and tomorrow night is my turn to have coffee and cake, after dinner,@ my house----3 other couples, that worked & retired along with Lou --the men of course--(OTIS ELEVATOR CO.) get together and have dinner once a week and then dessert @ home---this way we can have a good *gab-fest*
Ya know---the men talk OTIS and stocks and the women tear up the other women-

Glad U R having a good weekend Galahad---U deserve it--
till later
keep a smile

Hi Wayne

Glad you have come through it without any problems. It was lucky that Rita was reduced a bit when she hit land. Still so much damage and those poor people in the bus. It will take a long time for these areas and the people living there to get over this.

Love

Liz
