Have you ever noticed a awful smell?

Post by Hoggett »

Hi,

For a while I have been smelling a unpleasant smell, I asked my carer if she could smell it and she said she couldn't. I thought that it must be just in my nose. But today she said she could smell something, but she knows I have a bath every day or two if I can. So the question is can mc cause the body to smell I am also going to see if it my legs that are the culprit (they are made of plastic/silicone inners) I will ask her tomorrow if it is them. but thiought I would ask you on here before I go to see the doc

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Certain diet changes can cause changes in breath scent and/or perspiration scent. For example, eliminating all carbohydrates from the diet can result in ketosis, which causes the breath to smell of acetone. Spicy foods, alcohol, and caffeine, for example, can cause increased perspiration, which can increase body odor. And as you mention, synthetic materials can host odor-causing bacteria, under certain conditions (such as moisture and warmth).

As Leah mentioned, outside of causing flatus that could knock a buzzard off a garbage truck a half-mile away (to quote another member), microscopic colitis is not known for causing unusual body odors.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks for your input.

Tex I didn't think it could, but thought I would ask.

To be honest for other a year I have felt as though there's something wrong with me. I had a Endoscopy done, then a Colonscopy to check for cancer (stomach cancer runs in my dad's family) but nothing has been found. If as I said before it isn't my legs I will make a appointment to see the doc and ask/demand for some action.

I will keep you informed.

Thanks

Ian
