Salads & Fruit
Is there a point when you can start eating salads and fruit?
Thanks, Jan

salads and fruits
jan,
The logical answer is: when you are sufficiently healed...I would start testing slow, real slow. I haven't had nearly any in 2 years.. but I eat canned fruits and bananas but no salads yet...don't feel I am ready...

Hi Jan. Monique is correct in saying that you have to be healed to a certain degree to start adding salad and fruit. I started with salad first because I missed it so much. I waited 6 months and tried a small one with oil and vinegar after I was successfully off Entocort ( 6 months). The key is to try soft greens like red leaf and don't add any other raw veggie until you know you can handle the greens alone. It was a success for me. I have now worked my way up to a pretty large salad with cabbage, avocado, nuts, and a little dried cranberries... and some protein! Yay!
BUT for fruits have not been as successful. Now I know it's because of the fructose ( sugar) and not really about the fiber. I seem to have a certain degree of fructose intolerance. I can eat a few bites of a fruit, but anything after that will give me bloating and gas.... and melon will give me D.
We are all different. So, just remember to test one thing at a time if you think you are ready.
Good luck
Leah
