Couple questions before using EnteroLab

Post by Bama12 »

1. Should I eat normally or can I begin the elimination diet?
2. Should I ask my GI to test for IgA ? Whatever ?

I go back to my GI Wednesday, I was going to see if he would order the labs thru EnteroLab.
But I've been anxious to start the elimination diet.

I have Tex's book, but can't seen to wrap my head around all these different terms.
Plus, I read when I go to bed....and usually fall asleep
Not that your book is boring Tex , I'm just not that smart ....he he

Thanks

Lynn,
I was on the elimination diet loooong before I ordered the tests. Gluten stays in your system a long time--or at least the effects of it--from what Tex has been able to surmise. Because my insurance did not pay for Enterolab testing I did get the IgA testing done first thru my gastroenterologist so that I did not waste my money on something that would show me nothing. I also got my doctor to order it so that my flex spending cover the cost of the tests.

Hope that helps with making some decisions...

Hi Lynne.
You should find out if your insurance will even cover the tests. Either way, you might want to get the IgA blood test. I should have ( eye roll). It would have saved me a lot of money.

I would start the elimination diet simply because the sooner you start it, the better you will feel and the faster you will heal. ...especially the gluten. Get rid of it!
