MRT testing

Discussions can be posted here about mediator release testing (MRT), as offered by Oxford Biological Technologies, in conjunction with the LEAP program, which is claimed to determine a relative level of sensitivity to various foods and chemicals by measuring an increase in the ratio of liquids to solids in a blood sample that has been exposed to a specific allergen.

MRT testing

Just wondering...how do you initiate getting the MRT testing done? Is it through your physician?

Hi Linda,

A few years ago when I had the test, a dietician or other medical professional was required to order it. I'm not sure if one is still required. The most important thing that a dietician does is help you set up a rotation diet using the foods from your non-reactive list of foods. He/she may also suggest recipes. Most dieticians are not familiar with MC, however.

You can read more information about the test here: http://www.nowleap.com/index.html

MaryBeth has referred some of us to a dietician familiar with the test. I don't know if Leah, who is a nutritionist, also does referrals. The website above can probably provide referrals.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
