Seasonal allergies - are they messing me up?
HI All,
I've been doing fairly well. At least I've been pleased. My diet has enough variety now and I had been able, with the help of Amitriptyline, to be fairly regular with Normans.
So now in the past 2 weeks I see that I am "off" again-- like feeling out of rhythm. Not so regular and not so Norman. The only thing that has changed is that my seasonal allergies have come on with a vengeance. I am taking Claritin regularly.
I reflected back to last year and remembered that I had a short flair toward the end of April that caused me to have to get back on Entocort for a few weeks, so this is the first spring I've gone through without Entocort since being diagnosed.
My question to the group is: is it likely that my seasonal allergies are affecting me enough to cause me to be out of sync, relative to where I was 2 months ago? Would they really make that much difference? I've had them all my life so I rarely give much thought to my seasonal allergies. Spring and fall are the worst for me.
thanks,
Carol

Hi Carol,
This is just my opinion, but I feel very strongly that chronic mast cell activity in any epithelial tissues do indeed tend to trigger mast cell degranulation in other epithelial tissue (such as in the digestive tract). I notice the same seasonal pattern.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks Tex,
I needed to hear from others with seasonal allergies if they too saw a difference. It's the only thing I can put my finger on. I think I may need to trim my diet back to exclude some fruits and anything acidic until they die down. I'm already doing usual precautions such as keeping the house shut up, etc.
I appreciate the help.

I've read that before Joe, but did I remember that when it was time to start the allergy meds again? NO, I did not. I bought the Walgreens Wal-itin. Definitely will be switching to the Claritin brand redi-tabs to play it safe.
Thanks for the reminder. Any change in the right direction helps.
thanks again,
Carol
