Is dairy free right? For some reason I feel like I have a problem with it...

Okay so I just checked...On my vitamin label it clearly says dairy free but, then it contains lactic acid.

Well, technically they are correct, because rather than being an actual component of milk, it was originally a derivative of milk (the first lactic acid was made from sour milk). These days most lactic acid is made from the fermentation of either glucose, sucrose, or lactose, but it can also be made from other carbohydrates. That's rather misleading though, because if it's chemically identical to the lactic acid that can be made from milk, then our body probably cannot tell the difference, and it may react to it anyway, if we are sensitive to dairy. This might not apply to everyone, but some individuals probably have to look out for it.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
