Sed rate?
My sed rate has jumped from 20 six months ago to 37 on Monday. Does this go up at all with MC or is it more likely attributable to my cutting back my Enbrel that I take for my arthritis? I would have asked my doc on Monday but I just got the labs online this morning.
Hi Nettie,
Arthritis, MC, and many other sources of inflammation can increase the SED rate, and I would expect that an immune system suppressant might suppress it, so it wouldn't be surprising that the rate might increase if you reduced your Enbrel dosage.
37 is certainly higher than normal, but it's not high enough to get excited about. If it climbs into the hundreds, then it's time to sit up and take notice.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
My level was 27 when my skin rash flared. My 70 year old mom's just tested at 54. I was alarmed, until I read that the numbers are higher as you age, so her level is no worse than mine.
