Hemp Milk

Post by bevfromwa »

While I'm posting on this department, wanted to mention that I have been making hemp milk and am really enjoying it. Used to make almond, but it takes a bit longer with the blanching, etc. (well, Dave and I had fun slipping the skins off, got in a contest to see how far they'd go across the room when some got away). Tried coconut milk, but too much cream that clumped. So now am loving the hemp. Used to buy it but so expensive and lots of additives. Costco has really reasonable hemp seed. Vitacost has a good deal on buy one get one 1/2 off for another day or two, makes it slightly cheaper than Costco.

Put a scant 1/2 cup and 3 cups of water in blender, blend 3 minutes. Really not necessary to strain.

If 3 cups is enough for you, that's it. If you want more, do this again. I've found that it keeps at least a week, and is good for everything, drinking, cooking, sauces, etc. If you want it thicker you can either cut down the water or add a little more hemp.

Enjoy!
