Have a list

Post by annie oakley »

I have a list of people to call. I am going to call home health the first of the week and set something up for a nurse to visit if possible. I am going to call the rehab place in town because the nurse said I could take my PT here instead of driving to San Angelo. There's a whole list of people I need to call about one thing or another. I am having all kinds of wierd dreams the last few nights and maybe that;s because I am nervous about the surgery...and a bit scared...but I am getting prepared! Anyway I could not have done this and got my act together with out my family here on the board. Thanks all of you. Love Oma

I hope you can get the support you need where you are. It always sounds like you are in a pretty remote area, and sometimes you can't always get the help you need. I grew up in a pretty small town and was about an hour away from the closest hospital or doctor. We had doctors that came on a rotation basis, but only on Thursdays. So you were okay only it you got sick on Wednesday! Otherwise you had to drive an hour, and at the time when the girls were little, I didn't drive. We had a daily bus that went into the nearest town, where you could see a doctor, but it left at 9am and came back at 3:30pm, and it was a long day especially if the girls were sick to begin with. NOT fun. There were many late night rides though, taking the kids in to the emerge because it couldn't wait. They had allergies and were constantly sick, and I do mean that literally, and then of course there were the normal childhood accidents and so forth. Eventually we moved into the town, mainly because I had to be closer to the docs for the girls. Now I don't know how I did it back then?

So for your sake, I do hope you have help all set up for you during recovery.

Oma, here is another thing to add to your list. Exercise. It helps to go into the surgery with the leg as strong as possible. I did biking and also found a British website that suggested exercises for before the surgery. Just in case you didn't have enough to do!!!
