Tex, what are the safe forms of vitamin D and B-12

Post by mcnomore »

I saw your post earlier today and would like to know as my vitamin D is quite low right now. Also, I posted my Enterolab test results today and you have my permission to add them to the list. Thanks

I'm not sensitive to soy, so most brands of vitamin D and B-12 are safe for me. Because of that, I really don't keep up with brands that are truly safe for most people here.

I know that Polly usually buys such vitamins from Freeda Vitamins, so they are one source. I believe I've heard Kirkman Labs mentioned on this board, also. Most companies make different types of vitamins to suit various customers, so we still have to check the labels to be sure before buying.

Thanks, I'll add your test results to the list.

The B12 from Freeda has sorbitol and mannitol.

Good point. That's true of most sublingual B-12 lozenges, especially. I can't tolerate significant amounts of sugar alcohols (such as is found in many fruits), but the small amount in most vitamins doesn't seem to bother me. YMMV.

Gluten Free Nutritional Supplements
All of Kirkman’s nutritional supplements are gluten free and casein free.
Experience
Kirkman® is the leading manufacturer of nutritional supplements for individuals with special sensitivities and dietary requirements. Founded in 1949, Kirkman® is also the oldest nutritional supplement company serving the special needs community. This experience has allowed Kirkman® to pioneer effective products in many areas of nutritional supplementation for individuals with special health needs.
Dedication to Quality and Efficacy
Kirkman® has always been viewed as a quality leader in the nutraceutical industry. In the special needs community, Kirkman's reputation as a quality manufacturer is second to none.
Safety and effectiveness are Kirkman's primary concerns. We have invested heavily in the most up-to-date technologies and equipment to insure that our customers receive the purest and most effective products in the marketplace.
Most companies that sell nutritional supplements do not manufacture their own products, therefore they can't guarantee their products' quality. Kirkman® is a basic manufacturer, which means that we can enforce exacting quality controls at each step of our products' production. We comply with the Good Manufacturing Practices and certified by NSF.
Kirkman's Offers the Highest Standard of Purity Testing in the World

We Test Every Raw Ingredient in Every Product for more than 950 Contaminants!
In 2011, Kirkman® introduced its Ultra Tested® line of products which are subject to the most rigorous purity testing protocol in the nutritional supplement industry. Ultra Tested® products will be tested for more than 950 environmental contaminants, which far exceeds FDA requirements for testing or any current commercial standard.
Studies establishing evidence that environmental toxins may be causing serious health issues, particularly for children, influenced Kirkman® to raise the bar for purity standards in our industry.
In recent years the sources of supply for raw ingredients used in manufacturing both pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals have shifted overseas - primarily from China, India, Mexico and South America. U.S. supplement companies can no longer be assured that their raw material supplies are free of contaminants, since the countries supplying goods are virtually unregulated.
Kirkman's purity testing protocol includes testing for pesticides (insecticides, fungacides, herbacides, biocides), endocrine disruptors and other potentially harmful contaminants. Scientists have linked the use of pesticides to the possible rise of ADHD cases and other neurological disorders. Pesticide testing is uncommon in the nutraceutical industry except for herbals and botanicals but the truth is that many raw ingredients used in making supplements come from the ground where the risk of exposure to pesticides is ubiquitous.
Every raw ingredient in Ultra Tested® products is tested for hundreds of potentially harmful pesticides and chemicals in addition to tests for heavy metals, bacteria, yeast, mold and common allergens. Finished products will be double checked for heavy metal contamination, bacteria, yeast, mold and common allergens, far exceeding the FDA regulations. Most supplement companies only tests for what the FDA requires, Kirkman® goes way beyond FDA requirements for testing as illustrated in the chart below:

It is EXHAUSTING! I've been analyzing it all for a year now, and I still haven't acquired all the knowledge I need! It's great to have this forum to share like experiences and to learn!
