How long did you wait to add foods to diet?

Post by mcnomore »

After you began to heal how long did you wait before trying to add foods back into your diet.

I have tested positive to all foods on the Enterolab Panel C test and am curious how others dealt with "when to try the foods again" or even any new foods.

Thanks

I just spoke with the nurse at Enterolab about my test results and she said that since I am feeling good I should try adding a little amount of one new food a week to see if I react.

She also said that it's important for me to get to the point where I can rotate foods so that I am only eating something twice a week because I may end up with an intolerance to a food I eat too often.

Rotating does work for some, but not everyone...Tex eats pork 3 meals a day. I tried rotating, but I don't eat enough foods yet for it to be successful.

Until your gut is healed and the D is completely gone, and any other symptoms of MC, I'd stick with the foods you know you don't react to for a while....just to be safe.

The nurse suggested that I introduce a new food like buffalo or bison or turkey once a week to see if I react or not.

For now, I can't rotate.

I went that route, too. I tried bison/buffalo (they're the same basically), and I thought I did fine with it sometimes....but not always, so I cut it out. I did find out that cows were bred with bison and have been for a long time, so that's why I stopped.

Here's what Tex had said:

FWIW, regardless of where he initially bought his stock, most of the crosses were made well over a hundred years ago, (in the last decades of the 19th century), when the government instituted a program to eradicate the bison in order to starve the plains Indians who stood in the way of westward expansion (in the 1860s). Bison numbers became so low that individual surviving animals often roamed until they came upon a herd of cattle, and they tried to associate with them (because they are herd animals). My grandmother even told tales of when she was a kid in Central Texas (this was around the turn of the previous century), and a single wild bison cow often came to the barn with their cattle, in the evenings. IMO, there are no bison on this continent that do not carry DNA from domestic cattle.

Tex

I do well with turkey, but try to get organic free range....when I get a store brand (they're probably fed corn, oats, gluten grain) it does affect me.

Can you eat any fish?
