I am extremely busy so I rarely get to read or post as you can see. However, I found that article and thought it might be of interest to someone here. Had some time tonight so I thought I would check in again. There are so many new people here and I am not familiar with their situations. I do like to read your posts because I know how you struggle. And there are a few others that I used to follow faithfully that I do try to catch up on.

Quick refresher, before Easter I had been off Entocort for about six weeks when D began again. Tex suggested I make turkey soup with only carrots which I did. I made this huge batch and froze it in containers enough for about a day and that is all I ate throughout the day. By the 7th day my D was much worse than when I started, even with 4 Imodium a day, so I went back on Entocort. I avoided turkey and carrots for some time but have since eaten the soup that was in the freezer without any ill effects. I can also eat turkey and cooked carrots without any problem.

Whenever I go on Entocort I respond very quickly and after tapering down I am able to get off again. I was off for 4 weeks this last time and doing great when I had to fly to Denver May 9th for 5 days and I ate things I shouldn't have as there was nothing in that house to eat and no transportation to go out to get something or stores close enough to walk to. All I brought along in my carry on were nuts and home made crackers. So by the time I got home I had full blown D again. I tried the maximum Imodium treatment without success. Went back on the RX again and now I am down to one Entocort every 4th day for about the past two weeks. My BM's are once a day and normal to hard. I have decided this time I am not going to go completely off the RX. I want to stay on this schedule for two months and see how I am doing at that time. I eat no grains at all including rice and corn. Have not had quinoa in a long time as I thought that may be a problem for me. Eat pork, turkey and fish. A variety of cooked vegetables which I make and freeze in small containers. No eggs except when a recipe calls for an egg such as my tapioca pudding. No dairy. Use almond or coconut milk. Rarely do I eat fruit other than applesauce. I eat nuts and a lot of Sun Butter from Trader Joes.

I take a generic Zertec every morning ever since Polly tried it back in August of last year and it helped her even though I never had allergy symptoms. However, I find some days I have a sniffy nose, (Not stuffy, but sniffly) it doesn't run, nor do I ever have to blow it, but it's like I'm getting a cold but then it's gone again and it's not every day or all day but just for several hours. And sometimes so slight that I probably don't notice it right away. I can't figure out what is causing it. I am sure it has something to do with histamines. I gave up bananas and avocado for awhile and still had this feeling so I went back to eating a banana occasionally and 1/3 of an avocado a day.

My goal is to find the lowest dose of Entocort that I can be on FOREVER (never go off) and be able to continue to eat the way I am now and not have D. I have been on and off too many times and always relapse at about 6-7 weeks. The last time was after 4 weeks. When I tell people what I can't eat they ask what do you eat? I feel I am eating very healthy and don't really feel deprived. I do miss chicken and I do miss being able to go out to eat like we did years ago. And I often crave something sweet. Then I will mix some organic strawberry jam with the Sun Butter and eat that. That helps.

I talked long enough, it's time for bed.

I know how you feel because that's exactly how I feel. If you are on just one Entocort every 4 days, you are doing very well. I hope things continue to go well for you.
