This is kind of off topic, but is there any research that links bacteria to MC? I have had spinal fusion...could my herniated disc have been caused by bacteria? My sister had congestive heart failure and the doctors said it could have been caused by a virus.
Then on the other hand, here is another condition where they are prescribing antibiotics!
[May 10, 2013 -- Taking antibiotics could relieve symptoms of chronic lower back pain for up to 40% of people, according to a new study. The latest studies from the University of Southern Denmark build on previous research, which shows that between 7% and 53% of patients with herniated discs have a type of bacteria. In these patients the bacteria entered the disc at the time it was herniated, or "slipped."]

There are numerous theories that MC (and other IBDs) may be caused by bacteria, but no one has ever proven any such cause-effect relationship.
The thing about herniated disks is that they are going to cause back pain whether bacteria are present or not, because when a disk is out of position, that can allow bone to rub against bone, and even when it doesn't, it causes a change in the angle between the respective vertebra, which results in pain due to the misalignment.
Doctors love to prescribe antibiotics. That's probably one of the main reasons why so many people eventually develop digestive system issues.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
