Damage to Colon?

Post by terre »

Will persistent D from MC damage the colon? I have had D since March 10, 2013.....the frequency changes, but have D every day.

I will send my Enterolab sample back to them tomorrow and I think I am going to try the Pepto treatment plan. I am on GF, DF, sugar free (except fruit) and I am eating no grains or yeast products (that I know of).

I just received Tex's book, so maybe that will shed more light on the subject.

Hi Terre,

The D doesn't necessarily damage the colon (though it surely doesn't help it any, either). It's the inflammation that causes the D that is responsible for the damage that's done to the cells in the mucosa of the colon. Virtually all of the damage is usually reversed, as our colon slowly heals in response to the proper diet changes.

The book should tell you more than you ever wanted to know about the disease, and it should answer most of your questions. If you have questions about anything you read there, please don't hesitate to ask.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
