Measles Vaccine Question - Tex or Anyone???

Post by Denise »

Hi Everyone,

I was contacted by MGH in Boston and the Massachusetts board of health that I was expose to measles on my last visit at MGH. I had a doctors appointment plus blood lab work that day.

MGH, board of health & PCP want me to have a blood test plus be vaccinated again for measles.

My question is will the vaccine affect the gut????????????

I am fine with the blood test but not sure about the vaccine. Since then I volunteer for an autistic school fair, a family wedding with numerous out of state guests, & travel for work to many locations.

What do you think about the vaccine and the gut?

Would this be the MMR vaccine? If so, the only risk should occur of you happen to be allergic to chicken (it's grown in chick embryos).

Or, if you happen to know your vitamin D blood level, and it's at least 50 ng/ml, your resistance might be high enough that you may not need the vaccine.

With any luck at all, the vaccine shouldn't aggravate your MC.

Try to get a measles-only vaccine, instead if the whole mumps-rubella portion that you don't need. Any vaccine has the potential for triggering an autoimmune reaction, but your risk for measles might be the greater risk. Good luck with your decision.
