I shouldn't be annoyed to see Norman

Post by DebE13 »

Wouldn't you know it? Norman made a 4am visit and I just sat and rolled my eyes. I should probably be more welcoming, maybe he'd want to visit more often. its really got me thinking about what I'm eating which isn't much now days. I have extreme gas and gurgles which I'm attributing to stress. I don't feel like I'm stressing out, really, but I tend to internalize things and the thoughts stay in my head until I get an inner resolve, no matter how long it takes. It's such a pain because even if I don't want to think about it the thoughts are still there turning over and over in my head. I consciously try to move on but until the inner me decides to let it go, I'm just plain stuck.

I've been getting more stomach aches too which is generally a dairy, soy, or nut reaction for me. I've not been eating those items so again, I'm attributing that to stress. The odd thing is I would expect to have WD if I'm so stressed out- not that I'm complaining.
:???:

I've only been eating ground turkey, hamburger, rice, corn tortilla chips, sweet potatoes, and Lara bars for the past three weeks. If anything, I would have questioned the Lara bars since they have dates and I may have histamine issues. If any of those foods were bothering me I shouldn't have had a visit from Norman, right? Again, not to complain, but the MC handbook seems to be revised on a daily basis and I'm using an outdated version.

I was thinking it might be the right time to drop more foods from my list just to confirm if they are all truly safe. Although, I will be going through some big changes so it might not be the best time or maybe it's the perfect time. ???

My pre op nurse seemed concerned about my diet being so limited and commented that I probably don't get enough calcium, it's at 8.9 which is at the low end of normal. What's the alternative? Eat more dairy? I drink a ton of almond milk and theres good calcium in that. Maybe now would be a good time to bring up metanx? My ferritin is at 15, which is at the low end of normal. I started taking Tex's recommendation of the OTC metanx using the supplements listed but stopped shortly after my cancer dx. A Rx would be so much easier and for me, cheaper. I'm kind of jumping around in my thoughts but maybe bringing up absorption issues would be a good idea. It's just been a nightmare since I'm always in the normal range. I would hope someone would consider being so close to the low side of normal is also a step away from being not-so- normal. What would it hurt to try? Maybe I just need to be a squeaky wheel.

Deb,

Congrats on the Norman! That was unusual timing, I agree, but maybe he just couldn't wait because he had a busy day planned.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
