Good morning!
I wrote back to Dr. Fine yesterday to let him know that we had publicized his lecture info on our website. I also asked him the "million dollar question" that those of us with multiple intolerances always wonder about: Exactly WHY the multiple intolerances; what is the cause/mechanism/common thread? He answered that he believes that "the HLA genes dictate what antigens are reactive and not."
This makes sense, doesn't it? Especially since so many of us seem to do well on the caveman diet. When you think about it, virtually all of the food triggers we have are to foods that were not available/eaten for most of the time humans have been on this planet. So I guess it is likely that if one has genes that cannot tolerate gluten, then one may also have genes that cannot tolerate other foods that were not a major part of the caveman diet..
BTW, Dr. Fine eats caveman-style, too, except that he avoids meat and only rarely eats salmon.
Love,
Polly

IOW, Polly, Dr Fine is a vegetarian caveman? It is almost an oximoron isn't it? Well, I guess some of the people in Paleolithic times didn't eat much meat; they foraged for food and gathered more than they hunted. Haven't we read that the warmer the climate in general the less meat they ate? This was mostly due to the fact that more fruit and veggies were available compared to the availability in colder climates such as the arctic areas.
I wonder if those of you who are vegetarian cavemen eat all the time? I assume you must be very hungry when not eating meat and animal fat. I find that I eat almost continuously on days when I have no meat available to me. What is your experience?
Love,
Karen
