I've been GF and DF for about 6 weeks and tonight I slipped up. I accidently ate my kids pasta from the fridge instead of my own GF one. I should have known when it tasted so normal! Does this put me back to square one? Meaning if I was going to start feeling better in 2-3 months am I now back to day one?
Thank you!

Hi Karyn,
With any luck at all, your intestines will have accumulated some degree of healing in the last 6 weeks, so while this may cause a setback, it certainly won't push you all the way back to square 1. Now if you were to do that a few times in a row, then yes, you would probably just about have to start over. But a single incident should cause only a minor setback.
Stuff happens. Hopefully this won't delay your recovery by any large amount. In the future, whenever there's a chance of a mix-up, you might want to mark your safe plate with a piece of green tape or something, or mark the food that contains gluten with a red marker of some type.
Good luck. I hope that any reaction will be slight.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Re: accidentally ate gluten!
It happens to the best of us Karyn and as Tex has mentioned, you should be fine. I chose a cereal from the "gluten free" shelf (or so I thought) and rather than reading the label, I trusted the sign and had major stomach upset (duh!!!) the next few days. Lesson learned, I now read EVERY label ALL of the time!! I hope you're doing well!newyorkmom wrote:I've been GF and DF for about 6 weeks and tonight I slipped up.
