finally tapered off Entocort and the potty people knows best

Post by suzieq »

Hi All,

Happy Holidays to everyone!!!!!

I finally tapered off Entocort, taking my last pill last week. I should have listened to the potty people's advice and not my GI dr. Since Sept. or October, I don't remember, it's all a blur, I had been dealing with severe constipation while taking the Entocort. After my disastrous tapering off in August, I followed the Dr.'s taper down schedule and didn't take your advice to cut back on the Entocort earlier. Even now with taking my last pill last week, I am still a bit constipated. Since the severe constipation started I would come home from work, immediately drink a glass of Citrucel and following it with 3 stools softeners and I would have a BM the next morning, but not a lot, and I think that is still my problem, I don't go enough. My GI told me that it is the IBS in play now, I think I was taking Entocort for too long, since May. On the weekend, I took my Citrucel cocktail and the stool softeners and had the worst abdominal pains, I could not stand up straight. They have gone away and I'm going to lay off of the Citrucel and stool softeners for a while. I know don't drink enough water, so I'm trying hard to drink more.

I guess I'm in remission. I don't ever want to take Entocort again! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Hi Susanne,

Thanks for the update. I hope that remission will remain a faithful friend.

Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Constipation-Free New Year!

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Congratulations! Sorry it had go happen the crampy way. At least if you have to take it again, you'll have experience of the do's and dont's.

Well, now you know Susanne. The less meds we have to take, the better. It sounds like you won't need Entocort again since you are C dominant anyway.
Feel better soon
