We were actually discussing this at a dinner party a few nights ago.
A friend who is a PhD Pharmacology professor verified that the gut has many cannaboid receptors and it absolutely does seem to be beneficial for IBDs, but nobody understands why.
I do know someone who treats Crohn's with medical marijuana. This person uses an elixir that is doled out in small doses like a liquid medicine. It is particularly helpful with nausea and insomnia.
My understanding is that the medical marijuana is not much of an intoxicant.

My birthday is 4/20, which I understand is, for some reason, a significant day in pot-speak. Leah, since you are in CA, you may appreciate that I never knew this until my son did a semester at Humboldt State, way up there in the redwoods, and we happened to be out to visit on my birthday. In Arcata CA, the Sixties haven't ended.
