Testing meats and my progress

Post by Pat »

I am IgA deficient and according to Enterolab I would get false negative results if I tested for meats. They recommended leaving out one meat and after 4 weeks try leaving out another meat and see what happens. Leah on this forum, Thank you Leah! , suggested limiting my protein to one meat and see what happens. I am already getting results. I tried beef first for a couple of days at every meal and had watery D. Obviously beef is out. Now I am eating turkey and after 24+ hours I am already getting thicker BMs. Not sure what my next test meat will be maybe salmon.

Thanks again, Leah!!!

That's very encouraging. You're making progress surprisingly quickly.

Beef can be very insidious. When I was recovering, it would cause me to have some bloating, aches and pains, and a headache, but no D. These days, I can eat it without noticing any symptoms, but I very rarely eat any beef, since I've become used to avoiding it.

Turkey seems to be safe for almost everyone. Good luck with your trials, and please let us know the results.

My test has not gone well. I had to restart Pentasa. At 4/day it helps a lot. Also I have sent for the meat tests at Enterolab. I think maybe you are right, Tex, since my IgA is not low low just low maybe I will be able to get some results. I have to try. I am really struggling. I only tolerate squash for my vegetable even with Antihistamines and Pentasa and Imodium. Meats I am not sure. This really sucks.

Pat,

I'm sorry to hear that bad news. All things considered, the EnteroLab test should be worth a try. Let's hope that maybe it will catch all of the foods that are causing problems.

Pat,

Sorry that your path to mc enlightenment is this tough....

If you are reacting, try and heal a bit before you try the next meat option.
When inflamed, any new ingredient has a high chance of causing a reaction,

Deep breathes. Yes it will take some time to figure out what works for you.... You are not alone, and the time you spend now will be worth it.

Healing hugs,
And encouragement to hang in there....

So far I have tested:

Beef No, gave me WD

Chicken No, gave me constant leaky D

Lamb No, gave me WD

Pork I think I tolerate Pork as well as Turkey. Not norman but not WD either. Will keep trying
