Hi Everyone - Please Forgive Me For Dropping Out of Sight
I've been sick in bed with a BAD reaction. I didn't feel up to going to my office to boot a computer, (my office is in a separate building, away from the house), and I guess I wasn't thinking clearly enough to even remember to turn on my cell phone. Most of the time, the bloating and pain was so bad that I was halucinating, and couldn't think straiight.
I couldn't keep anything down for three days, not even water. It didn't look good at all, for a while there, but late yesterday, I was able to keep down a little chicken broth, and some water, so today at noon I finally drug my sorry carcass of bed, and I'm trying to rejoin the living. I'm weak as s kitten, but at least I'm out of bed.
I appreciate the phone calls. I'm sorry that I caused some of you to be concerned--I never dreamed that it would last as long as it did. It's been a long time since a reaction got me down like that, and the sad part is that I'm not even sure what really caused it. Sigh. It was slowly coming on for two or three weeks, and suddenly got serious. My best guess is a sugar issue, caused by the molasses in some cookies, and Virgils' Root Beer, but that's pretty much a guess.
I'm trying to catch up with things, but the brain fog, and fatigue, are still pretty bad. I'm just glad that I'm over the hump.
Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Glad you're back amongst the living Mr. Tex. Are you sure it wasn't a virus?
BTW - your apology is most surely accepted - JUST DON"T DO IT AGAIN!

I am glad you are back and feeling well now...
I´ve tried once to take note of everything I eat in order to make it easier to remember when feeling bad... But... I never wrote more than 1 week... and finally had to give it up...
It is difficult to know exactly what the reason was for being sick. I just hope it´s over now.
Take care, Wayne.
Love,
Tessa

Oh, thank heavens you are OK. You had me mighty worried. I was almost ready to send out the hounds!
That's a wicked reaction. Could it have been a virus? The hallucinations sound like you could have had some dehydration/electrolyte disturbances. Were you having D as well as vomting?
I hope the worst is over and that all will be smooth sailing. What IS it with these seasonal flares anyway?
Lots of love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Oh Wayne I am so sorry you were that sick. Please take good care of yourself. I know you don't like hospitals, but if you feel you are beoming dehydrated, please go to the emergency room ASAP and let them put you on an IV. Is there someone at home who can check in on you? I hope you are getting better - much much better.
Love,
Carrie

Whew, Wayne! Hope THAT'S over!!!
I'd been just checking back a few posts lately, and did notice none of the latter ones were yours, but didn't realize that you'd not been posting anytime during the day cause I don't get to go back that far. Had I checked the whole list, I'd have been really worried.
You've gotten some really sage advice above.
You really need someone to check on you when you think an illness is getting worse and worse like that.
One time back in the mid-80's, I had what I assumed was flu, and was alone in my small condo apartment for about a week in desparate straights. After someone came to check on me, I was given an IM anti-emetic because I'd not been able to hold down any fluids, and after it took effect, I started to drink all the Gatoraide (corn) I could handle, and it did wonders. This was my idea as I didn't want to be put in the hospital for IV's if I could get myself over it. My doc told me that she thought I'd had meningitis. The headaches were unbelievable.
Anyway, next time I'm informing everyone when I start to get anything that even resembles flu, and I will go to the doc's office, even if I have to have an ambulance take me there! So Wayne, you need some sort of plan for the next episode, but hopefully, there won't be anything like that in your life again!
Do you happen to have someone nearby who could check on you on a regular basis, even if just by phone? That way, if you didn't answer at times you'd usually be at home, the person could come by. Just a little suggestion.
Anyway, sure am glad you're regaining normalacy. Hope you progress quickly.
Yours, Luce

Glad you are finally feeling better!
I keep pedialyte in the fridge at all times. When I have D I drink the darn stuff over ice to keep my electrolytes in balance. I get the single serving size bottles since the large ones have to be used withing 48 hours and I never seem to need to take it that long. I haven't found a gatorade flavor I can stand yet...
Dehydration can sneak up on you.. can also kill you!!! I darn near took a sod nap one year when I didn't realized what was happening. If I can't get the electrolytes in balance fairly quickly.. I go to the emergency room now for an IV. Haven't had to do that in quite awhile though once I started keeping the pedialyte around.

I have family members living close by, who check on me on a regular basis when I'm out of circulation, so I'm fortunate there. The electrolytes are a definite problem, though, because of my corn intolerance. I dont' recall what the label showed for pedialyte, but I'm thinking that it contains corn syrup also, just like gatoraide, and every other similar drink in the world. Sigh.
Maybe I should get some on hand, anyway, just in case. These days though, if I have a reaction, it usually doesn't include serious eposides of D--normally just a couple of days. The extreme bloating and nausea, seem to be the worst problems.
