It appears that American researchers don't have the market cornered on ridiculous research conclusions, because a group of Italian researchers has published a report that is probably best summed up by the description, "underwhelming".
They have concluded (believe it or not), that kids who have "IBS", have a much higher risk of being diagnosed with celiac disease, than those who do not have IBS. Well Duh!
Well, guess what . . . with an average time from the first onset of symptoms until an official diagnosis of celiac disease is determined, taking approximately 9.7 years in this country, that's kind of a pathetic discovery, isn't it?MONDAY, April 21, 2014 (HealthDay News) -- Children suffering from irritable bowel syndrome are four times more likely than other kids to have a condition called celiac disease -- an allergy to gluten -- Italian researchers report.
And get a load of the ridiculous title of this article:
Bowel Illnesses Sometimes Coincide in Kids
So they're suggesting that kids can have both IBS and celiac disease concurrently. As if IBS actually exists. I reckon they haven't read the editorial by Professor Habba, yet.
At least the researchers didn't conclude that there is no connection, so maybe it wasn't a total waste of money.
