bad news for me…. cancer
I normally would not shout this kind of thing out to the world, but you all seem to be part of my family…. and if I am absent from the site, you'll know why.
I just found out ( today) that I have breast cancer. I'm still in shock, but I was able to get in to talk to the surgeon already and he put my mind somewhat more at ease. it's been a tough weekend waiting for the pathology results ( my MC acted up a little bit)… and then to get them…. just heartbreaking. A lot of crying.
Mine spot is very small and for now, looks like it hasn't spread to the lymph node, but we won't know for sure until after the surgery and another pathology wait. I'm going in for the lumpectomy next week on Monday. I don't even have to spend the night, so that is good. Then there will be 6 weeks of daily radiation.
This is all so sudden and such a shock, but I have to stay positive and hope that one day , this will just be a bad nightmare.

ohh Leah
heartfelt hugs while you process all of what is going on....
Hope your gut is healed enough to support you for this 'nightmare', relieved that the lumpectomy is soon, so you are not stuck in limbo for too long.
hugs

Leah, I am sorry that you are having to deal with this. Most of all I want you to feel encouraged going into your treatment. Since I work in a couple of school systems (and therefore with many women) I know countless breast cancer survivors. I see them go through the grief and shock, then determination as they start treatment.... and then I get to see them back at work as the talented, energetic and skilled professionals that they are. Their cancer is a part of their history but it never defines them.
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers for a quick and thorough resolution.

Leah,
I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with the emotional and physical ordeal of the diagnosis, but looking at this realistically, you were able to conquer MC, and you will certainly be able to conquer breast cancer, also.
Love,
Tex

I'm so sorry, Leah. The cancer diagnosis is one we all fear. So many friends have gotten the breast cancer diagnosis in recent years. Thankfully, every one of them is alive, healthy and living life to the fullest. Your description of your diagnosis sounds very hopeful.
I always think of you as a "strong" woman, informed, competent in many areas and always willing to share your knowledge. You're in my thoughts and prayers, Leah. Please keep us informed of how you are doing. You're part of my "family", my potty people family, and we always support one another.
Keeping you in my prayers,
Sheila W

So sorry to hear you are being challenged medically again. I'm sure you are full of emotion. Just when you get MC under control life challenges you again. It seems so unfair.
My Mom had a mastectomy 20 yrs. ago. She was 70 yrs. old and recovered nicely.
You are a strong, fit woman and will get thru this as an informed proactive patient .
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you journey through your procedures and recovery. Many hugs
